Ulyanovsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra "Gubernatorsky" under the baton of artistic director and chief conductor Ilya Derbilov and People's Artist of Russia Sergei Shakurov will present a musical and literary composition based on the story "Tim Thaler, or Sold Laughter" by James Crews. The online screening will take place on April 11 and 12.
In the story of the famous German storyteller James Crews, a lot of events take place with the boy Tim: fantastic and quite real. Like all real fairy tales, this story is interesting and instructive not only for children, but also for adults. Because it makes you think about difficult and important things: about the fact that money is far from the most important thing in life, about loyalty and true friendship, about choosing a life path and much more. And the music performed by the symphony orchestra will become a sound decoration for the ongoing events, help the audience to empathize with the main character more deeply, enhance the impression of the exciting plot and emphasize the meaning of this fairy tale: “a person needs laughter, like a flower needs sunlight”!
Sergei Shakurov is a People's Artist of the RSFSR, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, a well-known Russian theater and film actor. The artist is well known to the audience - he played more than 100 roles in films and voiced more than 20 films, worked with famous directors: Nikita Mikhalkov, Andrei Konchalovsky, Pyotr Todorovsky and other masters. He starred in such masterpieces of Russian cinema as "At home among strangers, a stranger among his own", "Beloved woman of the mechanic Gavrilov", played the main roles in the political thriller "Traces of the Werewolf", in the popular detective story "Visit to the Minotaur" and many others.
Sergei Shakurov in an interview told how he became a participant in performances for children with a symphony orchestra at the Moscow Philharmonic: “I have long heard about “Tales with an Orchestra” and even attended two performances. I really liked it. And then I was offered to participate and choose from several fairy tales that I would like to read. I decided to take "Tim Thaler" because it is suitable for boys.
Sergei Shakurov, as a master of the artistic word, performed with symphony orchestras in various cities of Russia. On November 3, 2019, he read the fairy tale "Tim Thaler, or Sold Laughter" with the Ulyanovsk Symphony Orchestra as part of the Autumn Festival, which was held in our city for the second time.
Music by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Gounod, R. Strauss, Shostakovich, Prokofiev and other composers
