Ulyanovsk presented new lithprastructors at the conference of the Literary Cities of UNESCO
Ulyanovsk takes part in the international conference of UNESCO's literary cities, which takes place in the online format from September 21 to 25. The participants of the event became coordinators of 39 literary cities of the network.

The initial annual conference was planned to be held in Prague, however, in connection with the pandemic, it was first postponed to an online format. Themes of this year became new aspects of the organization of literary projects and changes in the work of the Offices of the Literary Cities of UNESCO during the Pandemic period. In particular, new formats of literary festivals, activities, writing residency, online technology for the development of international and national cooperation, opportunities for the implementation of interdisciplinary projects during the COVID crisis period, etc.

The Ulyanovsk Practices of the Organization of Literary Projects In the Pandemic period presented the Coordinator of the  program "Ulyanovsk - the city of Literature of UNESCO" Gala Uzryutova. Meeting Participants Learn more about such projects of our city as an international online exhibition "City as a workplace of the writer" (100 photos from the authors of different countries of the world), Children's literary residence, online "Culture VS Pandemic" in Ulyanovsk International Cultural Forum , Literary Online Festival "Amphibrachius", as well as the continuation of work on the introduction of literature in urban space (graffiti, literary stops, poetic arch, literary benches, etc.) and others. In addition, the participants discussed the network projects of UNESCO literary cities in which Ulyanovsk is also actively participating. Thus, the Ulyanovsky poet Danil Nostryakov will perform a video in the international competition "Slamovision", in which the poetic speeches of the authors of the literary cities of the network will be presented. Recently, the work of Ulyanovsk artists, poets and photographers were published in the international anthology "You Will Remain", which was presented on the 3rd online summit of UNESCO creative cities in Beijing. She continued a series of materials created by the creative cities of UNESCO in the COVID-crisis. Ulyanovsk also joined the network campaign to send children's books for the Prague City Library (they were provided by the centralized library system of the city).

Earlier, Ulyanovsk became a member of a series of events organized in UNESCO's literary cities on the occasion of the International Literacy Day, which is celebrated on September 8. Pushkin walked around the city, a compact literary card appeared in the center, and the artist Danil Lapshin inflicted the symbirsk words, noted in the "Sensual Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language" Vladimir Ivanovich Dal.

The poet and journalist from Ulyanovsk Sergey Gogine became a member of the international literary project "The Possibilities". He was organized by the Directorate of the program "Danidin - Literary City of UNESCO" (New Zealand). Authors from different countries of the world proposed to write their response to the famous poem of the Nobel laureate in Literature Volva Shimborsk. During self-insulation, the poets shared their poems that were consistent with this poetic manifesto.

In addition, on March 21, Ulyanovsk celebrated World Poetry Day online along with UNESCO's literary cities. On April 23, a poem of Dmitry Sadovnikova "To the Volga" in the English translation of the Ulyanovsky poet Sergei Gogina was presented for shares for the World Book Day in Nanjing (China). Also, Dmitry Sadovnikov's poem in Sergey Gogina will enter the permanent exposition of Modern International Multilingual Library Museum, which is now being created in the city of Slemani in Iraq on the basis of the old hospital. The museum will present books from all 39 UNESCO literature cities and poems from each city in three languages ​​- the language of the original, English and Kurdish.

Ulyanovsk authors who have passed the competitive selection will become participants in the international writing residences (due to the pandemic, their deadlines were transferred to an indefinite time, the details will be announced later).

Ulyanovsk joined the network shares of Heidelberg's main library, which in 2020 will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the death and 100th anniversary of the famous writer and the playwright of Friedrich Durrenmatta, on the occasion of what the author's books exhibition in different languages ​​organize. The exhibition will appear the author's books in Russian, provided by the Centralized Library System of Ulyanovsk.

Until the end of September, Ulyanovsk writers and screenwriters can offer their terrible stories to the Competition of the Interdisciplinary Project Scary Tales Archive, organized by the Directorate of the Puchhon Program - UNESCO City Literature in South Korea, together with Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. This is a unique chance to turn your story in the cinema and go to the international level.

Currently, Ulyanovsk also considers the opportunity to join a few projects of the UNESCO literary cities network. The city also intends to invite the city of the network to participate in new Ulyanovsky initiatives.

In addition, the city will take part in a special online meeting of the Literary Cities of UNESCO on the work of writing residences in a pandemic.
