THE INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST WEEK 2020 IS HELD IN THE ULYANOVSK REGION
January 27 in the creative space "Quarter" at st. Lenina d. 78 opened a thematic exhibition “The Holocaust. Their eyes”, organized by the regional Jewish national-cultural autonomy.
The exhibition is timed to coincide with Holocaust Remembrance Day - January 27 - when the world pays tribute to the memory of millions of victims of Nazism during World War II. She calls to remember the crimes of the past and ensure that they do not happen again in the future.
In total, during the Second World War, as a result of aggression in the territories occupied by Nazi Germany, about 20 million people were deliberately exterminated, including approximately 7.4 million Soviet citizens.
The exposition of the exhibition includes three thematic sectors. "Shoah" is an overview exhibition that tells the story of the Holocaust of European Jewry. "Album Auschwitz" - dedicated to the album found by the prisoner after her release. This exhibition gives us the opportunity to see with our own eyes the fate of those who arrived in Auschwitz in 1944 from Hungary. "Rays of Light" is an exhibition describing the fate of women during the war. Each visitor can light a candle and pay tribute to the memory of millions of innocent people who died.

“The exhibition is aimed at countering extremist and nationalist ideologies. If information about the Holocaust is preserved in people's memory, then this will not happen again. It is especially important to disseminate knowledge about the events outside the Jewish community, because the Holocaust is not only a tragedy for the Jewish people, but a horrific collapse of the moral values of the entire civilization. Right-wing radicalism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism are still manifesting all over the globe today, and this carries a real danger - a repetition of such horrors,” said Igor Dabakarov, chairman of the Ulyanovsk Regional Jewish National Cultural Autonomy.
The exhibition is available for viewing until January 31.
