December 14th. Opening of the exhibition of works by artist Viktor Chizhikov

On December 14, Ulyanovsk will host an exhibition of People's Artist of Russia Viktor Chizhikov (1935-2020), a cartoonist, author of the image of the bear cub Misha, the mascot of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, and many other famous images.

Since 1955, Viktor Chizhikov worked in the Crocodile magazine, since 1956 in the Vesyolye Kartinki magazine, since 1958 in the Murzilka magazine, since 1959 in the Around the World magazine. He also worked for Evening Moscow, Pionerskaya Pravda, Young Naturalist, Young Guard, Ogonyok, Pioneer, Nedelya and other periodicals.

Since 1960, he illustrated books in the publishing houses "Kid", "Children's Literature", "Fiction" and others.

He was a member of the Union of Journalists of the RSFSR (1960-2020), a member of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR (1968-2020), a member of the editorial board of the Murzilka magazine (1965-2020). He was the chairman of the jury of the Tick-tock children's drawing competition held by the Mir TV company (1994-2020), as well as the chairman of the Russian Children's Book Council (2009-2020).

The artist's works are in the collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

The opening of the exhibition will take place as part of the Cultural Dialogue: Meetings in the Provinces program. Organizer - MBUK "Centralized Library Association" with the support of the Russian Cultural Foundation and the Department of Culture and Leisure of the Population of the Administration of the City of Ulyanovsk. This is a cultural and educational program for the residents of the city of Ulyanovsk, within the framework of which a series of cultural events and meetings will take place.
