The Department of Literature in Foreign Languages of the Ulyanovsk Palace of Books together with the Department of Romano-Germanic Languages of the Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University and the Museum of A.A. Plastov - a branch of the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum - announce a competition for the best written translation of an excerpt from the novel Gyp "Petit bleu", which has no official translation into Russian.
The book Gyp "Petit bleu", published in Paris in 1889, belonged to the mother of the wife of the artist Arkady Aleksandrovich Plastov, Sofya Vasilievna Vik. The edition is stored in the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages of the Book Palace.
Gyp (Gyp) - Countess de Martel, nee Sybil Aimé Marie Antoinette Gabrielle Ricchetti de Mirabeau (1849-1932) - French writer who published more than a hundred novels and short stories, in which the life of the French aristocracy and bourgeoisie is described in humorous tones at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the 20th century. Gip's novels were translated into Russian and were popular in Russia. The novel “Petit bleu” has not been translated into Russian.
The competition is held within the framework of the cross year of the regions of Russia and France, scheduled for 2021.
The goal is to draw attention to the issues of translation of a literary text, as well as to improve the skills of written direct translation from foreign languages into Russian.
Pupils, students, connoisseurs and lovers of the French language are invited to participate. Form of participation: remote. Everyone can take part in the competition (place of residence does not matter). Individual and team submissions are accepted.
The competition is held from November 1, 2020 to March 30, 2021 in three stages:
Stage 1 - acceptance of materials for the competition (from November 1, 2020 to January 15, 2021);
Stage 2 - summarizing the results (January-February 2021);
Stage 3 - awarding the winners (March 2021).
The author of the best translation will be awarded a diploma and a memorable gift. All authors of competitive works will be sent a certificate of participation in electronic form.
