At the beginning of April in the Central City Library. I. A. Goncharov, repair work has begun, which will help modernize the institution and transform it into a new generation library within the framework of the national project "Culture".

10 million rubles were allocated from federal funds and 2 million 500 thousand from the municipal budget for the modernization of the Central City Library of Ulyanovsk. Current repairs of the premises will be carried out, modern furniture, computer and library equipment, office equipment will be purchased, the fund will be replenished with new literature.

As the director of the city library system Olga Mikhailovna Slepova notes, it will be a completely different library with multifunctional halls and locations, only the quality of service for readers, the friendliness and professionalism of librarians will be preserved and increased.

On the first floor of the building, a soft zone will be created with the ability to watch programs, presentations, lectures, the room will be equipped with a modern screen and a projector. In the same hall there will be a zone for quiet reading and individual work, an access zone to the National Electronic Library and an on-duty bibliographic reference service. In addition, a zone for people with disabilities will be provided, special equipment will be purchased for them.

The administration of the Centralized Library System tried to take into account all the wishes of young readers and developed additional locations for creative youth. Thus, the media laboratory will become an innovation of the library. This is a comfortable room with individual work areas, equipped with modern computers and modeling software, a 3-D printer, TV and special equipment for international and interregional online meetings.

The Literary Cafe is another area in the Central City Library. I.A. Goncharova. The coordinators of the project have not yet revealed all the secrets, it is only known that it will have a local history orientation. The library will also have an exhibition space for organizing exhibitions of artists.

There will also be a space dedicated to the writer Ivan Aleksandrovich Goncharov. An interactive zone that imitates a ship with a helm and a bell, a podium zone for performances and events, a magnetic wall for drawing and posting up-to-date information, two-row bookcases for middle and senior school age, a play area with a self-leveling floor and a map "Journey of the frigate Pallada - everything it is designed especially for young readers.

The book depository is being renovated; modern computer equipment and new books have already been purchased.

The opening of the library is scheduled for September.
